Great analysis. One of my 10 fav movies.
4:10 it would make sense why he doesn’t wnat to return to jail
A happy was made for the movie, but the director did not like it and made the good one so bad and poorly filmed that they kept the bad one. It can be found on the dvd version of the film.
one of my fave "go to for bad days" films......just perfectly imperfect...so loved
Im 37. Ive loved the 30s/diesel punk esthetic, i loved ALL the pulp films of the 90s. Dick tracy is , was, and always will ve my favorite, i loved the shadow, the phantom, and the rocketeer holds a special place, becauase, the ROCKETEER, looks cool AF with the art deco look of the hero, the costume, the idea!

and Jack The Ripper 1976
Great review sir. Murder By Decree another forgotten gem.
Totally agreed. Murder By Decree is absolutely terrific!
I'm sure Billy Zane would love to be Australian but he was born in Chicago so....
One very early quibble: you keep referring to "pulp comics" while showing the covers of pulp magazines, and some images from later comic books. Pulp magazines, covering all genres were popular through the 1920s, with a golden age in the 1930s. Comic books would follow in their wake, starting in the late 1930s. Pulps and comic books existed side by side, for a while, though, through the 1940s.
Best In Show isn't Guest's best film. A Mighty Wind combines the unique hilarity & dry wit delivered to perfection in both Guffman & Best In Show, plus adds big heart with ease (and the bevy of songs are genius). Guffman does have some heart, but not even close to what A Mighty Wind delivers.
You are wrong about the genesis of the mockumentary. Eric Idle brought us the Rutles in 1978, building on a whole range of skits from Monty Python.
It's not "the Macy's Day Parade." There is no Macy's Day. STOP THIS.
I doubt he missed a word on purpose, lol.
“Best in Show” is a wonderful film and incredibly hilarious. It is my favorite Christopher Guest movie. The one thing that I think Guest does so well is the creation of some very entertaining characters. My favorite characters in ‘Best of Show’ are Hamilton and Meg Swan, the hyper neurotic Yuppie couple whose personalities rub off on their dog so much that it’s behavior in the dog judging gets it dismissed from the competition. Very entertaining film filled with lots of laughs.
Only movie ever that I have watched over and over again. If a person “ get” this movie, they are not gonna “ get” me either.
Such a great movie.
Fred Willard…classic comedy..
John Cazale is one of my favorite actors man he’s so good RIP John
His performances are not merely memorable, they're unforgettable.
@@rustybeltway2373 I concur 👍
Dr Strangelove. Best in Show. Outstanding cast and dialogue. Quality from start to finish.
That's not Busy Bee!!
This is Spinal Tap>Best in Show>A Mighty Wind>Waiting For Guffman>For your Consideration
A Mighty Wind is my favorite. I think that's because I love folk music.
Thanks for this video, sir. I really appreciate people appreciating brilliance ❤
I die everytime at Hamiltons face at 4:09! 😂😂
This was the first film I had seen Kinski in, his acting when the match is thrown into his drink completely immersed me into the movie. Huge fan
Greatest actor of all time!
The greatest actor that ever lived.
Mr.Cazale would have been an A list actor beside DeNiro and Pacino if the lung cancer from chain smoking didn't kill him. He would have been co-staring in many films if that cancer didn't take his life. Everyone knew he would have been a great actor for years to come.
@4:10 i love the interpretation, but then also Al Pacino tells a story about John asking Lumet "why do i say that?" and Lumet telling him "because it's in the script" and that was that. So why he chose to deliver it that way, only he knows, (and very possible your theory is what he came up with in his head)
Absurdamente linfo este filme. Uma fotografia e trilha siberbas.
Think you should talk about the piano scene abit more. When it close ups on everyone you can see the realization in everyones face including John's. He almost conveys in way that he realizes that might be the last time they're all together and happy in one room. Which ends up being the case
Bro really said 2015's Django Unchained. That was released in 2012, 2015 was The Hateful Eight...
What a wonderful channel
Yes. Hard not to imagine what could have been. Deep cut for all who knew him.
Great loss. Like Heath Ledger. The talent was unmeasurable. We lost them.
The Academy should name an award after John, but no one would be worthy.
When Michael shouts "Fredo" in Godfather Part 3, it brought John back to life.
☆☆☆☆•
The word is elf-deprecating. Is this more AI shit?
Why does nobody notice that at 30:36 he sounds just like his father Vito, in other words - Brando?
Subscribed. Thanks for the great videos! I hope you make more.
When i first saw this film i had to watch it twice as i was laughing so much i missed some. of the jokes. Also when Fred Willard appears he absolutely steals the film. Genius.
John was definitely a great actor, however, great actors follow great direction. Much of the character attitudes and actions seen are because of careful, specific direction by Coppola.
There's another docu online featuring interviews with Coppola, Sidney Lumet, maybe a few others. They were surprised and impressed with what Cazale did. How he pulled more out of their direction, going deeper than what they began with. Comments from actors like Pacino, Streep, etc echo the same, how he pulled more out of them, making their performance better.
Was great in the deer hunter. His last role. Unfortunately passed away before he seen it.
Cazale worked in the company of the top American leading actors including Streep, Brando, Hackman, Duvall, Pacino, Caan and DeNiro. Sad he never got to give his own leading performance.
Such a good actor. Lots of actors can play the brash, two dimensional, stereotyped Holywood hero but very few can show human weakness and vulnerability in the way that John Cazale could. That takes real talent.
John seemed to always get roles that were guys who were schmucks.
A Mighty Wind then Best in Show. That is the correct order.
